The film revolves around the life of a teenager named Morishima Hodaka, at the age of 16, after being bored with life on a remote island, he decided to go to Tokyo to find his own challenges. However, things gradually turned out differently than he expected, life became difficult in the middle of an expensive city, and he withdrew into loneliness and homesickness. To earn money, Hodaka wrote articles for a magazine specializing in news about unusual phenomena. But right when he started working, it kept raining, making life around him gloomy and even more depressing. And then, as fate would have it, in an alley of a crowded and busy city, Hodaka met a young girl named Hina Amano, a girl with a strange ability to make the light in the sky shine through special prayers.
